Description
This is an early wood encased blown glass inkwell from the 1830s or 40s (possibly even older?).....the wood outer case is round and has its original black painted finish.... The hand blown glass ink bottle has a crude rolled in lip...aqua....appears to have a pontil scar on bottom....This blown glass bottle was placed inside and a wood plug was inserted into the bottom of the wood inkwell.....1 5/8"tall x 2 1/2"round.....Excellent condition with only a chip on shoulder edge of the wood, which may have been from when it was made?....Blown glass ink bottle itself has no chips or damage. All original old black paint and patina....
