Description
Offered today is a charming vintage platinum diamond wedding band. This may or may not be important to you, but I want to point out why this ring is unique.  Most of the antique diamond wedding bands fron this era contain single-cut diamonds, but not this one--this band is set with antique
chunky old mine cut
diamonds
with high tables and open culets--you can see their little heads sticking up on the side view of the ring.
And...I love these antique rings with provenance--this one was a gift from "EG to PRJ" as it is inscribed and it's dated Feb 1, 1942.  By the style of diamonds, we believe the ring could be older than 1942 (maybe belonged to someone's mom), and was just "gifted" in 1942...who knows, we rarely get any history on these old rings.  It would complement just about any diamond engagement ring. I've shown it with two different style engagement rings in the photos to give you an idea.  (the big engagement ring is listed separately, in case you're interested). ENGAGEMENT RINGS NOT INCLUDED HERE.
Seven diamonds are individually prong-set within the front of the ring, with points at the end of the channel. One of the seven is a single-cut diamonds (maybe a replacement) but all the others are old mine cuts.  They measure approximately 1.8 - 2 mm each, and they have very high tables.They are estimated to be approximately .03- .04 ct each, for a total of about .28 ctw.  The diamonds are graded as G color and SI1 clarity, by our experienced estate jeweler.
It is not a big, showy ring, but I love that it has the antiquity and the inscription on the inside, which actually dates it to truly being a piece from the past.
This band measures 1/8" wide.  It is hallmarked and tests positive for platinum.   It is inscribed and dated, as noted above, in lovely script.  It weighs 2.9 grams, falls right between size 4.75 and size 5  on the mandrel, and is in excellent vintage condition.  It can be sized by any competent jeweler.
