How to measure your ring size at home.
1. Take a piece of string or a thin strip of paper and wrap it snugly around your finger, behind the joint, where you intend your ring to be worn. If no string or paper (?) is available, you can use masking tape, a twist-tie, wire, or something else.
2. Mark the string, paper, etc. where it overlaps to form a circle. Unwind it and lay it against a ruler or measuring tape.
3. Use this handy chart to translate your measurement into a US ring size (this is what I, along with most jewelers, use):

Another way to size a ring (or your finger, if you have a ring that fits well upon it) is to measure the inside diameter of the ring and compare it with this chart:
